Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is the T20 cricket franchise which represents Kolkata, West Bengal in the Indian premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders franchise was found in 2008, purchased by Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s compant Red Chillies Entertainment in partnership with actress Juhi Chawla and her Husband jay Mehta for Rs. 357 crores.
From last IPL season 4, Gautam Gambhir is leading the KKR captaincy and newly appoint coach Trevor Bayliss. KKR home ground is Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
In last 3 season of IPL, KKR performance was very poor but the team was the most profitable franchise in Indian Premier League. Kolkata team improved alot and performed great in IPL season 4 in which they reached till play-offs and placed at 4th position.
Interestingly, Kolkata Knight Riders bought their fastest batsman Brendon McCullum back in IPL 2012 auction for $ 900,000. And now KKR have also started the train camp from 23rd March, 2012 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. SRK have resigned the logo and also the jersey of the team for IPL 2012 tournament.
In IPL 2012 season 5, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will play their first match against Delhi Daredevils (DD) on 5th April, 2012 at home ground Eden Gardens.
